Digital Activism Project: Safer Chickens for Consumers

I will be closing down the blog very soon as I have decided to discontinue this activism project.

I created a digital activism project which strived to help increase health checks in broiler chicken farms. Overall, I wanted to increase the health of individuals who consumed chicken on a daily basis. I kept in mind all the conditions in chickens farms which cause diseases to pile up in the chickens. I created a petition and a blog that would help those interested take part in the cause. Although I spent my efforts doing so, the project was unsuccessful.

My digital activism project was successful in total. I was unable to gain popularity on my blog posts or my petition. My project didn’t have as many followers or as much popularity as I would have wanted it to have. My topic was extremely unpopular and not searched often. When reblogging, I was only able to find a total of 2 blogs on wordpress in the same topic, worthy or reblogging. My highest viewed article only had 3 views and my blog had a total of 53 views. According to the information that I got from my blog stats, most of the people who came to my blog came through my social media, my personal instagram account specifically. They only visited my home page and no other actions were made from it. Only 6 people clicked on my actual blog posts and yet, no actions were made after they viewed it.

I also created a vast amount of promotions on my instagram. My newly created instagram had a total of 26 followers and it was promoted only once on my website. I was able to follow a few successful pages and they followed me back but this didn’t help my blog increase popularity. My petition didn’t do that well either. I only got a total of 4 signatures and 5 were needed to expose it to the public and recommended pages on change.org. The fact that I was unable to succeed the 5 signature count meant that it was an extremely successful project. I consistently failed and was unable to get my views or popularity for the project up, despite my efforts to educating the broad public.

I would have been able to improve my popularity and my project if I promoted more. Commenting on other posts of individuals who are a bit more successful compared to me would increase my range of accounts reached and maybe increase the views on my blog and signatures on my petition. I may have also picked a project that didn’t gain a lot of attention. I could’ve also made some alliances with similar projects so that we could help promote each others content. I also only used instagram as a social media platform. If I used other social medias, I might have been able to reach accounts that didn’t use instagram and then expand the popularity of my site and issue.

Thank you so much for supporting my blog! If you would still like to help out, my petition stays open.

Youth Voice

I’ve began to write on youth voices. I noticed an extremely interesting articles that I will link below. This includes information that I didn’t hear of before. Not only are chickens fed poisening, they have also been feed feces from other animals to cut down on food prices. This is extremly saddening thoughts because it shows us the true abuse that happens inside chicken farms. I will continue finding more blogs on Youth Voice and posting more there!

A beautiful youtube video!

While I was going through youtube, I stumbled upon an extremely beautiful youtube video.

This youtube video moved me as it showed individuals in NYC about a chicken that wasn’t farm raised and acted like a regular domesticated animal. The description of this chicken shares with people that chicken’s aren’t just used for food and can be normal animals like those in the wild. Please watch this and share with all your friends!

How much space is a chicken given to live in a chicken farm?

After careful search of websites and information, I finally found that shocking information that I have been looking for.

Many meat chickens live in a space smaller than an A4 piece of paper. By the time they’re ready for slaughter, there’s barely space for them to move.

https://www.worldanimalprotection.org/news/10-facts-you-should-know-about-factory-farmed-chickens

Chickens are living in spaces that are the size of approximately one sheet of A4 paper. To be exact, a space of 21.0 x 29.7cm. Chickens barely have enough space to move around to be exact and this is the reason why chicken’s are so unhealthy, not only to themselves but us consumers as well. A raised health check can help give chicken’s more room and allow more space to ensure healthier chickens. You can read more by clicking the link above!

My project is FINALLY out!

My long awaited video is finally out after an extremely long time. Whenever I have to study for a test or if i’m interested in a certain subject, I always end up going on youtube and looking for an animation that would teach me something. I really wanted to create a fun animation in order to learn faster. I chose to create an animation that would help people learn about arsenic poisoning and how farm chickens are actually raised. I hope all of you guys can learn from the video that I created and I hope you’ll understand a bit more on why I created my blog and petition.

A video on youtube?

I have created a 2 minute video that will be up on this blog next week about where our chickens come from and arsenic poisoning in the feed of chickens. It is a fun animation with voiceover that I hope will help all of you guys learned about the precautions you must take when eating chicken. I include possible dangers of consumption of this poison that was mentioned in previous posts. If you don’t want to read all of my blog for information and you’re new to my blog, watching this video next week can help you understand my petition and the cause I’m fighting for.

Please stay tuned!

The truth about our farmed chickens

Michael Specter, a staff writer for The New Yorker, also visited a chicken farm and wrote, “I was almost knocked to the ground by the overpowering smell of feces and ammonia. My eyes burned and so did my lungs, and I could neither see nor breathe. … There must have been thirty thousand chickens sitting silently on the floor in front of me. They didn’t move, didn’t cluck. They were almost like statues of chickens, living in nearly total darkness, and they would spend every minute of their six-week lives that way.”
Because the birds are forced to breathe ammonia and particulate matter from feces and feathers all day long, many suffer from serious health problems, including chronic respiratory illnesses and bacterial infections.

We all need to do something to stop this issue. These chickens may be used for food but their health is extremly important to keep the consuemrs and farmers healthy! Click the link below to sign our petition! Please share with your friends and help us!

Project coming out!

Hi guys! I am currently working on an animation and imformative video where I can discuss what happens in chicken farms and the potential outcomes of eating too many.

I will also be able to show this on my blog and help all of you guys learn a bit more using visuals!

This will be out in around 3 weeks and pelase stay tuned!

REBLOG: The horrors of being a chicken…

Billions of chickens are slaughtered per year, many dying as you read this caption

Chickens don’t do well when there are 100,000 to 200,000 chickens crammed into a barn. Barns with no windows or doors, 100% climate and light controlled for optimum growth.

https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/20089906/posts/10006

I’m appaled and devestated by this new information. In this relog, we are given a view o what it’s like to be a chicken, the amount of chickens slaughtered a day, and the living conditions in a factory farm.

Please check out this blog posts and share it with your friends to spread awareness on this issue!
